SIGNIFICANT is an attempt to make a chronological retrospective in only one hour of the films that in one way or the other played a significant role in the coming of age of The Animation Workshop. Showing the development of both technique and skill over a 30-year period, the program also reflects the corresponding development in Scandinavian animation over the same time span.

The programme contains some of the first films from today's established animation directors, such as Thorbjørn Christoffersen, Martin Skov, Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen, Tobias Gundorff, Rikke Planeta, as well as unscreened and raw gems from the years where it all started.

NB! Gamlebyen Kino is an outdoor cinema, so bring a warm sweater. In case of rain, the screening will be moved inside.

Age limit: 9
Portraying 4.6 billion years in the life of Planet Earth in 90 seconds.
2019 was the year of Gretha Thunberg. Her work has made it clear that as a world we need to stop ignoring the consequences of the human impact. It is something we must deal with, in every choice we make and every breath we take. We must consider if the earth shall stay the friendly place it has been for thousands of years.

2019 was the year Viborg Animation Festival celebrated Korea. This created the opportunity of bringing together Morten Thorning and the Korean animation director Seoro Oh to create a VAF-trailer, honoring Gretha Thunberg by creating Earth Girl.
