SIGNIFICANT is an attempt to make a chronological retrospective in only one hour of the films that in one way or the other played a significant role in the coming of age of The Animation Workshop. Showing the development of both technique and skill over a 30-year period, the program also reflects the corresponding development in Scandinavian animation over the same time span.

The programme contains some of the first films from today's established animation directors, such as Thorbjørn Christoffersen, Martin Skov, Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen, Tobias Gundorff, Rikke Planeta, as well as unscreened and raw gems from the years where it all started.

NB! Gamlebyen Kino is an outdoor cinema, so bring a warm sweater. In case of rain, the screening will be moved inside.

As a part of a project for immigrant students, who faced the challenge of learning the difficult Danish language, some smart-minded person came up with a brilliant idea. Why not make a project that combined the stop-motion animation with the principle of arranging, singing, and recording an old Danish song? Just like Michael Jackson's We are the World, one line for every singer. In this way, the students would learn about language, culture, and animation, all in the same project. Today we would consider it a politically incorrect film, bearing witness about how it was back then.

Erik Mogensen directed this film while studying at The Animation Workshop.
