SIGNIFICANT is an attempt to make a chronological retrospective in only one hour of the films that in one way or the other played a significant role in the coming of age of The Animation Workshop. Showing the development of both technique and skill over a 30-year period, the program also reflects the corresponding development in Scandinavian animation over the same time span.

The programme contains some of the first films from today's established animation directors, such as Thorbjørn Christoffersen, Martin Skov, Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen, Tobias Gundorff, Rikke Planeta, as well as unscreened and raw gems from the years where it all started.

NB! Gamlebyen Kino is an outdoor cinema, so bring a warm sweater. In case of rain, the screening will be moved inside.

The gentle and chill Bug is annoyed by stupid and hungry Chicken and reluctantly uses his Kung Fu skills to be left in peace. One of the first 3D films to be produced in Denmark and the first at The Animation Workshop. When it was created there was a large discussion between the people who embraced the new animation technique and those who swore that the new way had no future.

First film by the the directors Thorbjørn Kristoffersen and Frederik Budolf. Following this production, Thorbjørn was hired by A-Film to direct the feature film Terkel in Trouble. For about 20 years it held the record as the most successful animated feature in Denmark.
